Ideally you will have your own gear so when you pass try outs you are ready to hit the floor skating with the league. We do have some loaner gear in limited sizes available to rent for $2 per day, you will need your own mouth guard. Any questions, please contact us at Wasatchrollerderby@hotmail.com

Wasatch Roller Derby will hold tryouts once a quarter during the 2013 season. If you are interested in being a WRD skater, contact us! We can provide you with information to improve your skill level to guarantee that you make the team. The best way to prepare to play roller derby is to come see us play, and then to skate, skate, and skate some more! The more comfortable you are on your skates, the faster you will pick up the game. We will hold 5 week new skater boot camps leading up to each open tryout to help you work on the skills you will need to play roller derby.

What: New Skater Crash Course
When: Each Sunday from
January 13-February 10
April 7-May 5 (no camp April 21)
July 14-August 18 (no August 4)
October 6-November 3
Time: Noon to 3 PM
Cost:$50 paid up front for all 5 weeks of the Crash Course

New to Salt Lake and need to transferring from another league?
Just contact us. We are open to taking seasoned skaters who just need a new home. We will require that you show us you skill set but you will not be required to wait for an official tryout date.

Skills we can help you to build:

Agility, balance, crossovers, endurance, forward skating, skating in a squatted position, gliding on one foot, speed, and stopping.

Other important features of a roller derby skater:

Good attitude
Basic knowledge of the sport
Ability to listen and apply new knowledge
Enthusiasm

What gear will I need?

Every skater will be required to have a helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, kneepads mouth guard and quad roller skates. Contact us before you run out and make the initial investment for gear. You want to make sure you buy good quality that will both last and protect you.
